CED Advocate of the Year Award The Community Economic Development Advocate of the Year Award is presented annually to a person or organization that has made significant contributions on behalf of our industry. The CEDAM Board of Directors selects the winner out of a pool of nominations.
The CDC Staff Person of the Year Award is given annually to an employee of a community development corporation that has demonstrated significant impact, initiative, creativity, and collaboration within a neighborhood or community.
The Julie Sandorf Award is presented to a tenant who has demonstrated leadership in advancing the goals and philosophy of supportive housing.
The Greenleaf Award is presented by the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness each year to an individual who gives more than 100 percent when helping those who are homeless or at risk for homeless.
The Michigan Home Ownership Achievement Award is awarded annually by the Michigan Home Ownership Coalition to a Disabled Home Buyer who has overcome numerous obstacles facing persons with disabilities as first time homebuyers.
Since November of 2003, the Housing Workgroup of the Michigan Association of Centers for Independent Living has worked single-mindedly and strategically among lawmakers to promote improved housing options for people with disabilities.
The Terrence R. Duvernay Award is a pinnacle for any career in the affordable housing industry. Duvernay, past Executive Director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, is the namesake of the award and has the distinction of creating some of the most successful and innovative housing finance programs in the United States. His work has been identified as some of leading causes of Michigan’s positive growth in affordable housing. In winning this award, the recipient receives a significant cash award that they direct to the nonprofit organization of their choice, as well as recognition for their hard work. So many of the leaders in affordable housing live on a shoestring budget and advocate for one individual at a time.
